![]() I Saw a Face Sarah McEachen |
Visionary Artist Sarah E. McEachen![]() I saw a face. It was embedded in a thick layer of ground that had been textured on a masonite panel. The panel had been drying for over a year; when I turned it upright a shaft of sunlight fell across the painting and I saw the face. As I studied this, an entire figure emerged positioned in the classic ascension pose- embossed in the panel. Other figures, animals, birds and symbols slowly came into focus and a story unfolded. From the moment I gazed upon the face, my life has changed; my beliefs have expanded, my painting methods have been altered as well as my subject matter. Rather than starting a painting with a preconceived plan, I now ask the painting, what do you need to tell me? What do you want to say to others? What shall they see? |
